Mathematics of Machine Learning

The research group Mathematics of Machine Learning studies two questions associated to machine learning:

  • How can we use mathematics to understand machine learning
  • How can we use machine learning to help solve mathematical problems

More specifically we study the following problems:

  • Mathematical theory of Deep Learning
  • Scientific Machine Learning
  • Structured singularities in machine learning
  • Machine Learning Applications (Medical Imaging, Material Science, Astrophysics, etc.)

 Bachelor/Master theses

We offer topics for Bachelor and Master theses.

  • We find suitable topics in a preparatory meeting
  • Close supervision and frequent meetings with the supervisor
  • Advice and guidance for thesis presentations
  • Participation in the group seminar + presentation possible

For an overview of possible topics, we refer to the list of current and completed Bachelor/Master projects.

Seminar

We are organising a regular group seminar featuring research talks by the group members and invited speakers. Everyone (students, faculty members, guests, etc) is welcome! For the schedule, information on the venue, please see the seminar page.
